Aoki’s shampoo bars are made using organic herbs like echinacea, angelica root, spirulina, ginger and chrysanthemum. She travels to Korea every few months to hand-select the herbs she wants to use and brings them back to her spa to make the shampoo bars. The bars are crafted with just one chemical for foaming; the rest of the ingredients are so safe, they could be eaten, Aoki said.
“Once I started using this product, I never had issues anymore,” Aoki said. “No more itching. My teenage daughter used to have a very oily scalp, and hers is much better compared to before.”
Aoki Head Spa’s approach is meticulous and labor-intensive, setting it apart from other salons. Clients begin with a scalp analysis using a microscope to tailor the treatment to their specific needs.
The shampooing process itself takes 20 to 30 minutes of thorough, traditional brushing. The spa also offers red-light therapy for hair regrowth and uses a custom water circulation system infused with 12 different organic herbs.
In addition to scalp care, the spa offers massage therapy.
“I hired that guy to come here to teach my employees how to give Japanese-style massages,” Aoki said. “Our massage is amazing.”
